Chaz Harris has lived in New Zealand since 2006 but originally comes from the UK where he worked in a number of roles on several features and in the development team at Miramax Films. Chaz co-founded Seriously Entertainment in mid-2006 and went on to make a short film inspired by the death of his father called The Shoe Box which launched online. The film was sponsored by Kumfs Shoes and went on to screen on New Zealand’s specialist film channel Rialto in 2009.
In late 2007, he was nominated as one of three finalists for the SPADA New Filmmaker of the Year Award, an industry honour that recognises special talent and creative excellence in a filmmaker’s work to date. In August 2010, Chaz launched an online comedy series he wrote, directed and produced; 101 Dates follows Alice Chapman as she takes her quest for “the one” global by video dating on her webcam. The series was selected for the Los Angeles Web Series Festival 2011 and won 7 Outstanding Achievement awards including Outstanding Comedy Series along with other awards for acting, writing, directing, editing and cinematography. Also in 2010, Chaz won Stuff.co.nz’s “Blog Idol 2” competition and wrote almost 200 blog posts for the website with a blog called “Over the Rainbow”.
He has spent the last few years independently developing several internationally viable feature film and new media projects and is currently working on getting his first feature film off the ground.
